Wooden Information, Education and Communication materials produced by WOCHIVI, funded by IOGT

Women and Child Vision (WOCHIVI), with funding from IOGT, has produced and distributed wooden Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials aimed at raising awareness about alcohol abuse prevention. These educational materials have been strategically placed in various school environments to reach students, teachers, and the broader community. The wooden boards feature messages and illustrations that highlight the dangers of alcohol consumption, especially among young people, and promote healthy lifestyle choices. The initiative seeks to create a supportive environment within schools where discussions about the risks associated with alcohol abuse are encouraged, and preventative measures are actively communicated.

The placement of these IEC materials in schools is part of WOCHIVI’s broader strategy to integrate alcohol abuse prevention into the everyday learning environment. By displaying the messages in areas where students frequently gather, such as playgrounds, hallways, and assembly grounds, the organization ensures continuous exposure to the educational content. This approach not only informs students about the risks of alcohol but also engages teachers and parents, fostering a community-wide effort to address the issue. The initiative is designed to empower young people with the knowledge to make informed decisions while also building a culture of alcohol prevention within the educational system.

The project has received positive feedback from school administrators and local authorities, who recognize the value of incorporating preventative education into the school setting. With support from IOGT, WOCHIVI plans to expand the initiative to more schools, particularly in rural and high-risk areas where alcohol abuse is a growing concern. By combining visual communication with ongoing community outreach programs, WOCHIVI aims to reduce the prevalence of alcohol abuse among youth and strengthen the overall health and safety of the communities it serves.
